New York City Law Firm Connects with LightPointe Free-Space Optics
LightPointe and Cisco Systems Team to Deliver Networking Solution and Accelerate Service Velocity for Rockefeller Group Telecommunications Services, Inc.
SAN DIEGO - February 13, 2002 - LightPointe, an innovator, designer and manufacturer of carrier-class optical transmission equipment using Free-Space Optical (FSO) technology, today announced that New York City-based Rockefeller Group Telecommunications Services, Inc., selected equipment from LightPointe and Cisco Systems, Inc., to provide expanded network voice and data capacity to Mayer, Brown and Platt Manhattan headquarters.
Rockefeller Group Telecommunications Services, Inc., a leading provider of voice and data communications solutions and services, deployed a LightPointe FlightPath 155 system and two Cisco Catalyst 4000 Series switches, enabling OC-3 (155 megabit) connectivity through the air via line-of-sight between the service provider's Network Operations Center and the law firm. The networking solution will enable Rockefeller Group Telecommunications' customer Mayer, Brown and Platt to rapidly address the communication needs for more than 400 employees.

LightPointe's family of Flight Optical Transport equipment provides dedicated bandwidth of 10 megabits, 100 megabits, 155 megabits, 622 megabits and 1.25 gigabits. The company's FlightSpectrum 2.5G (2.5 gigabits) FSO system is in beta trials and will be available this spring.
LightPointe today also announced its membership in the Cisco Service Provider Solutions Ecosystem Partner Program, enabling enhanced solutions for their joint customers.
