January 27, 2005

The Cisco Systems® Arizona/New Mexico Region Commercial account team has named Calence, Inc., a Tempe, Arizona-based company that builds and maintains voice, video, data, and wireless networks, its "Partner of the Year" for the Cisco® fiscal year 2004. The title is awarded based on three criteria: total product revenue, total advanced technology revenue, and achieving top client satisfaction ratings in the region. Calence also ranked at the top for both combined and standalone sales of Cisco IP Telephony, wireless, and security products.

"In terms of growth, the upswing in the economy was definitely a factor, as was our geographic expansion," said Mike Fong, Calence CEO and co-founder, in reference to the company's new offices in New York City, St. Louis, and Portland. "Additionally, our commitment to and focus on Cisco advanced technologies is paying off. We achieved Cisco IP Contact Center [IPCC] certification last year, and along with our other Cisco specializations and certifications, we're able to provide the latest and greatest advanced technologies to our customers."

The Cisco IPCC Advanced Technology certification was another important addition to Calence's already impressive collection of Cisco acknowledgements. In addition to achieving the status of Cisco Gold Certified Partner for the seventh consecutive year, the company also holds Cisco Advanced Technology certifications in mobile access router and rich media communications.

"We have worked hard to steadily increase our Cisco specializations and certifications in its elite advanced technology," said Fong. "Offering advanced technology solutions around voice, data, wireless, IP Telephony and security, and delivering those solutions on time and on budget to our clients is the foundation of the Calence business." Calence works hard to stay current with new, leading-edge technology.

The Calence model takes a business-oriented approach, the company takes its mandate to gain expertise in the latest technologies seriously. The Calence team invests the time to fully understand the business requirements of their customers and apply technology where they will be of maximum value. Many Calence engineers hold advanced business degrees in addition to their technology certifications. That level of expertise is applied to each customer, along with a strong methodology that the company has developed over the years. The company stays focused on their customers' business strategies so that it can deliver the right architecture for where they are now and where they want to be.

Calence has found its key markets to be among larger customers in the healthcare, education, finances, government or organizations with large call centers—the types of businesses that have mission-critical networks. Fong sees these businesses trending toward increased network security, as well as wireless and wireless over IP.In addition, he says, many of these customers are beginning to embrace the benefits of IP Telephony. Fong said. "For our customers it's not a question of 'if,' it's a question of when."

With its commitment to mastering Cisco advanced technology, and dedication to understanding its customers businesses, Calence is well-positioned for continued success.
