Further European Cities Join Connected Urban Development Initiative
Connected Urban Development was launched in September 2006 as part of Cisco's commitment to the Clinton Global Initiative with the three founding CUD cities San Francisco; Amsterdam, Netherlands; and Seoul, South Korea. The programme aims to demonstrate how to reduce carbon emissions by introducing fundamental improvements in the efficiency of the urban infrastructure through information and communications technology (ICT). Four additional cities were added to the programme during the first global conference in February 2008 and include: Birmingham, England; Hamburg, Germany; Lisbon, Portugal; and, Madrid, Spain.
