Transaction Network Services and Cisco Join Forces to Offer End-to-End Networking Solutions

With a Cisco Powered Network, TNS Offers Customers Reliable, Secure and High-Performance IP Services



RESTON, Va. -- December 2, 1997 -- Transaction Network Services, Inc.(TNS), a leading transaction-oriented data communications provider, andCisco Systems, Inc., the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet,today announced that they are combining efforts to offer advanced,end-to-end networking solutions.

With a Cisco Powered Network, TNS offers customers reliable, secure andhigh-performance extranet services. The relationship highlights TNS's andCisco's focus on using intelligent broadband IP networking to deliverenhanced connectivity and network-based applications to buy-and-sell-sidefinancial institutions.

TNS's FastLink. Data Service, which incorporates Cisco Systems equipmentand Cisco IOS software, routes Financial Information eXchange (FIX)protocol messaging over a secure TCP/IP network designed, operated andmaintained by TNS. The FIX message protocol facilitates the electroniccommunication of indications of interest, orders and execution reports thatare normally phoned between equities traders. TNS was the firstindependent network services provider to develop a secure data transportservice for the investment community that meets all of the requirementsdeveloped by the FIX consortium.
