Cablevision Monterrey Delivers 50 Mbps Broadband With Cisco Technology
Company Also Expands Services to Small and Medium-Sized Businesses
MONTERREY, Mexico, Feb. 2, 2010 Cablevision Monterrey announced that it is now offering cable Internet broadband service with an ultrafast downstream transmission rate of 50 megabits per second. The 50 Mbps connection that Cablevision offers is based on Cisco® technology.
Cablevision has been testing this technology successfully since 2006. The new Cablevision solution operates under the DOCSIS 3.0â specification and is designed to distribute data packages over several virtually linked channels. It also provides support for the Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) with advanced network capabilities, address space expansion, device mobility support and easier device operation.
Cablevision will also offer voice and data communication services, managed services and cloud services for small and medium-sized businesses.
"We have been making huge investments in our network for several years to
be able to reach this day. Our innovative network and Cisco's technology has
allowed us to offer Monterrey the best Internet applications. Now we can offer our customers 50 megabits per second of navigation," said Jorge Azzario, general director of Cablevision Monterrey.
"Cisco works very closely with its customers. To be able to deliver 50 megabits per second is a milestone in Mexico. This new service will enhance the productivity and competitiveness of Cablevision's customers in Monterrey," said Rogelio Velasco, general director of Cisco Mexico.
The service will be released in a phased approach for current Cablevision customers in Monterrey, who will be able to select additional services according to their needs.
