Terremark Integrates Next-Generation Cisco Technology to Expand Managed Network Services
SAN JOSE, Calif., June 7, 2005 - Cisco Systems, Inc. today announced that it has worked with Terremark Worldwide Inc. (AMEX:TWW), a leading operator of integrated Internet Exchanges and network services, to provide advanced technology solutions and managed services to Terremark customers, including rapid and cost-effective access to an array of advanced solutions and managed services through one single connection.
The collaboration is focused on Terremark's "Service Insertion Layer," a single-service delivery platform built around Cisco technology and integrated directly into Terremark's exchange core backbone. Connecting to Terremark's "Service Insertion Layer," gives providers of network-based services, including those who deploy their own technology in Terremark's Cisco-based, pre-provisioned and centralized "plug and play" environment, the ability to deliver exciting new services with significant economic efficiencies to their customers.
"The decision to integrate Cisco's IP NGN solution and replace our legacy platform was based on our belief that Cisco's technology and services roadmap are in perfect alignment with our service insertion capabilities and the market's demands," said Marvin Wheeler, chief operations officer at Terremark. "Our enhanced services insertion business model offers service providers a compelling solution to the ever-present problems of providing advanced IP services without making a major investment in a new infrastructure; while ensuring the high-quality and reliability that enterprise and carrier customers demand."
Terremark's core infrastructure comprised of secured state-of-the-art facilities and its Exchange Point Platform, along with its massive network connectivity, provides Terremark with the ability to connect multiple network service providers directly to each other and to a wide array of managed service environments. With the addition of its new Services Insertion Layer, based on Cisco technology, technology providers can now insert their services solutions directly into the networks of the world's leading carriers.
"Cisco and Terremark share the goal of empowering our customers with advanced, managed services, while benefiting from the resulting cost efficiencies of our collaborative efforts," said Carlos Dominguez, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Service Provider Operations at Cisco. "We expect Terremark's aggressive approach to become a model for service providers worldwide."
