Cisco's fiscal year 2005 fourth quarter was characterized by significant technology innovations and customer wins across all customer markets: Enterprise, Service Provider, Commercial (small- and medium- sized businesses), and Consumer/Home Networking.
Cisco achieved significant worldwide customer wins in various markets, including IP Communications/VoIP, routing, switching, security, wireless and optical; announced vertical deployments in virtually every segment; and announced relationships with several service providers, including Sprint, and Swisscom. Cisco announced definitive agreements to acquire four privately-held companies, adding to the consumer, security, packet processing, and intelligent network and service management arenas. In addition, Cisco announced an innovative new technology, Application-Oriented Networking, designed to addresses the need for better collaboration between applications and systems.
Enterprise Market, Customer and Partner Highlights:- Airbus, in conjunction with France Telecom Group and Equant, implemented a Cisco IP-based communications system to include 40,000 IP phone extensions.
- To help combat email spam, Yahoo! Mail and Cisco announced their collaboration on an anti-spam initiative, which includes authentication technology designed to combat e-mail forgery by verifying the address of origin of e-mail messages.
- British Airways selected Cisco and Prime Business Solutions to implement an IP-based system to improve communication for 14,000 British Airways staff at UK offices and airports.
- The Agricultural Bank of China chose Cisco as its networking solution provider for the data center project in Beijing.
